Several New Scholarships are Available


Several scholarships are available to union member and/or their dependents.

2003 Martin Duffy Adult Learner Scholarship Award

This scholarship is for adult union members (NOT dependents). It is awarded by random lottery. You only need to be a member in good standing or retired member of an AFL-CIO affiliated union or Minnesota Teamsters Joint Council 32 affiliated union. Application deadline is April 30.

Assorted AFL-CIO Sponsored Scholarships for Members or Dependents

The Minnesota AFL-CIO will award five (5) scholarships in 2003 to graduating high school seniors who are union members or the dependents of union members. All scholarships are awarded by random lottery. Applicants must have at least a "B" average.Application deadline is April 20.

Various Minnesota AFL-CIO Scholarships

United Negro College Fund Scholarship/Internship

This is a new scholarship/internship offered jointly by AFSCME and the United Negro College Fund. It is for minority students who are sophomores or juniors, have a 3.0 or better GPA and are majoring in social sciences. As well as money this scholarship offers work experience with different aspects of union organizing with AFSCME. The application deadline is March 31, so don't wait!
