PERA nominationsSteve Johnson, member of AFSCME Local 552, Hennepin County Probation and Parole, has been endorsed by AFSCME Council 14 for election to the PERA Board, your pension fund. He has broad experience working in government and has lobbied the Legislature concerning changes in law regarding corrections, education, parks funding, and PERA benefits. We need representatives who will talk with their Council and Local Union members before deciding how to make changes in their pensions, especially contributions and benefits. Ballots will be mailed to participants the first week in January. Please return your election ballots as soon as possible. Steve's credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Psychology. He attended Management School at the National Institute of Corrections at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is a licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Steve has had 31 years of corrections/probation experience in Carver, Scott and Hennepin Counties. He has been a PERA member since 1970. And he is a current member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Public Employee Pension Service Association (PEPSA). He has served as president of the Minnesota Association of county Probation Officers and the Minnesota Acohol Traffic Safety Association. He is chairman of the Board of Directors of the Scott-Three Rivers Regional Park District. He is Board Chair of the Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Scholarship Foundation of Scott County. And he was elected and served on the Shakopee School Board from 1987 through 1990. |
