Walker Workers Keep Their Union
Walker Methodist Health Center negotiations team
On Monday, December 21, workers at Walker Methodist Health Center chose to keep their union by an overwhelming vote of 2 to 1. LPNs and direct care workers fighting for respect and a living wage refused to be divided by their boss and rejected attempts to bust their union. The vote followed weeks of worker actions, including an informational picket in late November. Neighbors of the Health Center showed solidarity with workers by posting 'Justice for Walker Workers' lawn signs in their yards and windows, and members of the Methodist community spoke out against the employer's long history of anti-worker behavior. As a result of Monday's vote, the bad boss at Walker Methodist Health Center is barred from another attempt to decertify the union for a year. |
